Listen to Run the Jewels' New Feline-themed Project

Since releasing their hit album Run the Jewels 2 last year, hip hop duo El-P and Killer Mike - collectively known as Run the Jewels - have not stopped for breath. Performing hit shows across the globe at Reading, Prima Vera Sound, FYF and many other venues and festivals, it seems like Run the Jewels just cannot be stopped. Experienced rapper Killer Mike and masterful producer El-P have joined forces to put out two critically acclaimed studio albums thus far which have both featured dark, aggressive, politically fuelled lyrics over the sound of El-P’s intense production. Whilst many fans are hotly anticipating the release of a third album in the trilogy, it may come as a surprise to some when they see what El-P is working on in the meantime.

Meow the Jewels is a remix album of Run the Jewels 2 made up entirely of recorded cat sounds. As bizarre as the idea sounds, El-P has somehow managed to make various meows and screeches sound just as tight as the beats on the album originally. Although clearly just a filler project before properly starting work on the next album, the tracks we've seen from Meow the Jewels so far just go even further to show that El-P is one of the best hip hop producers in the game at the moment and the best may very well be yet to come.
